Here's an awesome project story! Check this one out! Rachel from the National Buffalo Museum shared some details about this bison rug storage/transport frame that they built with MP and Conduit! πŸ‘‡

"Storing museum objects is not always easy. Sometimes it requires extensive planning and the right materials. Our collection includes a bison hide rug with the head still attached. This rug is heavy and awkward to move and requires two people to carry. In the museum world, we refrain from moving an object more than necessary and we must have an object completely supported while transporting it. Neither of these two rules could be followed. This rug needed a mount for it to rest on so staff could move the rug by its mount rather than by the rug itself.

The mount had to be sturdy and long lasting, and as lightweight as possible. A design was created using wire shelves as the platform and metal conduit as the frame. Next steps led us to research hardware to connect all the pieces together. That is what brought us to Maker Pipe. They had exactly what we needed to bring our design to life. Once we had all the hardware we needed, construction on the mount began.

The mount was not only designed for safe transport, but to store the rug for a long period of time. A barrier layer was made to rest in between the rug and mount. This provides extra support and protects the fabric from the metal.

During the design phase, we had to find a location to store the rug that was both durable and large enough. We decided that the best and safest place for it would be on top of metal shelving units. That way the rug is out of the way and still accessible. Handles were added to the mount in order to safely lift and transport the rug. It may require four people to move, but now it can be done safely."
