Built this awning to give me shade at the back of my Suburban when surf fishing. I used U bolts to attach 3/4 conduit to my luggage rack, then used the telescoping clamps to put 1/2 conduit inside the 3/4 and allow me to store it closed or extend it. I used the T connectors to add 1/2 conduit to the slide out to attach the tarp to. I bought a 4x5 tarp on Amazon and connect it to the frame with bungees. Works great and is quick to setup. I spray painted it black using Krylon Fusion all-in-one primer and paint. I used end caps to give it a finished look.
