Has anyone given thought to doing a Maker Pipe typ...

Has anyone given thought to doing a Maker Pipe type system using galvanized steel pipe? The load bearing capacity would be a lot higher than with plain old EMT. This came up because I was thinking about doing a shelving system for certain garden items we have laying around (mainly bamboo and metal stakes). I could also add steel fence posts to that list if I had something with the structural strength to support them. (I also have a mess of EMT that is currently laying on the floor in an impromptu organizer but shelving would be better.) Thoughts?
