I have a new project coming up with Makerpipe (its nothing revolutionary, just a replacement sun-shade frame), but I really wanted to make a scale model of it. On Thingiverse, I found the Makerpipe files for the mini connectors that you can print yourself on a 3D printer. These are great, but sadly, the folder for connectors sized to fit bamboo skewers was empty. So of course I had to make my own.

This was a thoroughly fun and rewarding little project as I slowly learn how to model in Fusion 360. I've finished the complete set and wanted to share them with you.

Making the basic connectors was pretty straight forward, but I'm most proud of modeling a working set of adjustable-angle connectors which print in place with an integrated hinge. SO, without further ado, here is the complete set: all of the Makerpipe connectors modeled to fit a 3mm bamboo skewer (usually - they're pretty inconsistent).

There are a few reasons I like skewers so much. They're long - mine are 9" without the pointy bit, which almost works out to a tidy 1-inch to 1-foot scale for real conduit. They're not as easy to cut as straws, but they are still easy to work with. And structurally they're nice and rigid.

This set includes all the regular connectors, as well as an a regular Flange, an Adjustable Angle Hinge, an Adjustable Angle 180, an Adjustable Angle Flange and a mockup caster (sorry, the caster doesn't actually spin - maybe someday!) That's the full current catalog of Makerpipe connectors.

They're TINY - so if you're keen on printing them yourself, pay attention to the notes on the Thingiverse post - they can be very fussy on the print bed.

I've made myself a little kit of parts to work through new Makerpipe ideas, and my daughter is really keen on building with them. I hope they're useful to someone else as well.
