My first build is a keyboard stand for my home studio. My first plan was a simple rectangle stand but I decided to try something a little more challenging. The red shrink tube color worked well. I may re-work it as a rectangle with a second tier. Fun first build. All comments and suggestions welcomed.
It is fun to talk it through though. With either rectangles or this design you could definitely stair-step them and even connect multiple front legs to a common back legs set. Cantilevered shelves would work too, but all of these that I have seen have some level of bounce that I would find really distracting. Or, maybe it would not bounce at all? Might be worth a test. Now that I think of it, I hung a speaker out on a T-connector and a foot or so of conduit and it was pretty solid.
If I did not already own cheap folding tables I would have built a work from home desk like this, or at least something to hold big displays. Good luck with the build!
Oh, and I should mention, using the Minis is a great way to explore design ideas without cutting pipe.
My original thought for the second tier, was to have the back legs be higher with a crossbar. From the crossbar, I was going to use t-connectors to make arms that could be tilted downward. I had planned to make a tab for the end of the arm, mounted with a threaded insert, to keep the keyboard from sliding. I don’t use the second keyboard much, so I just went with the single for now. If I get a chance I will make a model of two tiers, with the minis, and post a pic.
