Adaptive Snow Sled - Simple Sled Upgrade
I️ wanted to make an adaptive sled for our disabled child. She needs a bit more support and lots of adaptive equipment is one size fits all and costs hundreds of dollars.
I️ found a kids “snowmobile sled” on Amazon and added supports using Maker Pipe. The sled was around $100. The tubing had different diameters so I️ used PEX pipe for the shims. I trimmed the PEX shims down so it only touched one side of the Maker Pipe clamps on the larger tube and used the full size shim on the smaller tube.
I️ used 6 of the original T-Connectors, 2 rubber pipe feet and roughly 8' of 3/4" EMT conduit.
The 2 risers were cut to 12" and the curved support started at 36" and 2 90degree bends were done in the middle. If you don't have a tubing bender you could purchase 3 90degree fittings.
