I have had a maker pipe proejct outdoors in my garden for about 4 years. I am using 3/4" EMT metal pipe. The connectors are starting to rust and I need to remove them, brush off the rust ( wire brush drill attachment) and repaint. Is there a recommended paint that will last outdoors more than the standard paint that comes from Maker pipe?
Jake - The rusted parts that I have are:
14x Top Rail T; 12x 4-way structural T; 13x - 90 degree Structural Pipe Connector.
The rust was just a superficial coating. No pitting or erosion had occurred. I used a dremel tool with a wire brush to remove as much of the rust as possible, then I sprayed with a base coat of black Rust-Oleum Rusty Metal Primer Spray, when that dried I finished with a coat of gray Rust-Oleum satin protective enamel and added clear shrinkwrap. Hopefully I can get another 4+ years before I have to retreat.
