Hello All, I really like what I see on this site, so keep up the great work. I wanted to build shade tunnels or shade supports for my raised garden beds. I was thinking that I would have 3/4" conduit into the ground on each side and then bend some conduit into a half-circle (really a "U" shape so the half-circle has legs) for the 'top'. I was thinking that I would use a parallel connector for connecting the 'top' to the supports in the ground. The idea being that I grow different things in the beds each year and when I grow an indeterminate tomato, I can loosen and raise the height of the tunnel. I can then lower it when growing something much shorter the next year. My question is: are the parallel connectors strong enough to handle being outside with windy / stormy weather and not slip down (or whatever). It will have shade material on top and I figure the wind will really shake it all about. I thought about nesting or telescoping 1/2" conduit into the 3/4" ground supports, but there seems to be too much play / wiggle that would not be good in the wind.Maybe I just build it a static height and just live with it. Thought you guys might have some ideas on this.
