My Halloween story this year is CreepHouse Cinemas - a theatre that curates bad B horror movies from other dimensions, and plays them in our dimension on Halloween. The past few Halloweens I have had to abandon much of the stuff I had created, because it could not be put out in light rain. This year, my 1st creative goal has been to create a structure that can withstand wind and rain, and allow me to set up all the electronic effects, etc. inside this temporary outside structure. I started last year with PVC and fiberglass rebar. It works... until there is some moderate wind.

3/4" EMT, put together with the structural stability of the brilliant MakerPipe connectors IS THE SOLUTION! MakerPipe is on track to save Halloween this year! The structure of the main theater in CreepHouse Cinemas is over 95% complete now, and the tarp walls have stood without issue against 45 mph wind gusts! I'm about to install the theatre system, complete with surround sound for extra surprise audio during the films.

Here are a few pics after today's work on the theater. I thought it would be good to share them before all the structural connections get covered by the theater's coming interior decorating.

Note - most of the verticals against that blue tarp are 1/2" PVC. The PVC is slipped over fiberglass rebar in the ground, and connected to the 3/4' EMT horizontal top bar with a 3/4" PVC tee, with a 1/2" bushing in the bottom part of the tee. Another EMT horizontal piece keeps the flexible PVC from being able to bend against the wind. This allows me to create a grid support for the tarp at every couple feet, but at much less cost than using EMT for all the verticals.

That all sounds more complicated in words, but I have been recording the whole process from the start of this build, and I will edit it down the 50+ hours of footage into something more digestable after Halloween. Happy building, and Happy Halloween!
