Need advice for first time desk build? Fittings/connectors trouble mostly!

tl;dr

I have 3 questions

  1. what kinda sturdy fittings do y’all recommend for a build like this?
  2. should I have bracing on tables that are under 5 ft?
  3. is The shelf a bad idea stability wise?

I’m unsure of the exact measurements height wise because idk the exact dimensions of the flanges and the compression fittings to go into them that I think I’d be using on the floor

ideally I would like that shelf that goes above but may ditch that idea just for the desk itself

im fitting into a corner area so it needs to be 2 pieces that form the L shape so it’s easy to tear down and move later as my living situation isn’t permanent.

where each piece is under 5 ft I would think I don’t need to worry as much about bracing but I’m open for suggestions in case it actually needs to be a priority

also unsure if I should go with emt or with pipe tbh I want it to be sturdy but I don’t have a whole lot of cash… but I know the pipe would probably be less work as it’s sturdier and would need less bracing which means less connectors and less math and I’m an art major so uh

open to feedback for sure and ready to field questions for clarification
