Nice build! As a cocktail blogger, I can appreciate the need for a good, strong liquor shelf. Well done!
I think I spotted William Shakespeare, but I was expecting to see a bunch of cocktail books before I read that it was a compromise with your wife. Good idea to keep everyone happy, especially with a MakerPipe build. I like the stain—good contrast. Was the double board connected with the plate fasteners your doing or is this reclaimed wood from something? Just curious.
I noticed you have the Kirkland London Dry gin. How is it? I have their añejo tequila which is really smooth, but it has been years since I went to Costco with booze—here in Portland, OR all of the liquor stores are state owned. Looks like a nice cross-section of base spirits, but where is the rum? ;-)
Randy , Thanks for the comment! The double board connection was me. I wanted to keep them connected, and that seemed like a good way to ensure there was no gap between them.
The Kirkland Gin is a very nice easy drinker and makes for an excellent mixing gin, but is also perfectly acceptable in a martini or other cocktail. Unfortunately, I was just informed Costco recalled all of their gin from all stores and has communicated no plan to restock, so I'm not sure when it will become available again.
As for the rum, I'm not much of a rum drinker. I pick some up on occasion for gatherings where I'm making more cocktails, but it's not in my personal rotation. Also, all of the mixers (vermouth, liqueurs, bitters, tonic, club, etc) will be on a lower shelf when I decide to add another layer below the mixing shelf.
