"Our goal was to create an attractive open air space where we could protect our tomatoes from the local wildlife: deer, gophers, moles, squirrels, birds, etc. In the end, we use it for more than vegetables, we also plant early season bulbs that the squirrels love to munch on. For this reason, we extended the smaller wire mesh into the ground and also layed it as a matt a-foot below grade. Everyone we know is so jealous.
