As part of my preparations for this weekend's blizzard in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, I wanted to bring firewood inside so I don't have to go out in the wind and snow as much. At the last minute I had a thought that I could make a little "bookend" to fit more firewood on the hearth, where the weight of the wood keeps the supporting end up. It's made up of 4 x T Connectors, 2 x 90° Connectors, and some EMT cutoffs from other projects.

One tip I've learned from woodworking - keep your cutoffs! I used to worry about using every last inch of my EMT. But my cutoffs keep inspiring little ideas like this. A 5-gallon bucket can hold a bunch of 1-3 foot cutoffs. And a 5-quart "big mouth" bucket is great for smaller pieces.

My "bookend" works much better than I expected, and we can now fit about twice as much wood on the hearth. Plus I can "flat pack" it for storage by loosening two bolts. Our kitty was eager to test how it does under dynamic loads.
